Something for everyone, from current crafts ready for fresh lake action to older units that have reliably traveled the waters of Lake Kabetogama for years; current rates take this into consideration.
We do allow certain watercraft rentals offsite to area resorts, local campgrounds and to Voyageurs National Park island campsites located on Kabetogama and Namakan Lakes that have secure boat docks or sand landings that have been verified by us. You might want to consider renting our generator to charge up the trolling motors and your phones when Island camping.
For the convenience of those on the water, gas, bait, tackle, firewood and ice are available for sale right at the dock. You will receive excellent dock service: from launching to returns, suggested areas to fish, boat operation & equipment review and fueling service.

Prior to November 15: Cabin guests making reservations prior to November 15 each year have first chance at booking available watercraft for next season.
SAME DAY RENTALS: We encourage you to call ahead to ensure that we have a boat available or enough time to launch & prepare a boat. Due to resort priorities, staffing, reservations, weather and time; same day rentals may not always be possible or available.

Rentals that return late to dock without approval, may be subjected to a $250 additional late fee. Discounted daily rates may be available for rentals five days or more based on watercraft availability.
RESORT GUESTS: Rental begins at check-in and ends for fueling/inspection prior to sunset the night before departure (unless alternate times have been set). Resort guests are eligible for discounted daily and weekly resort rates.
RENTERS/OPERATORS:
• Renters/operators must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid drivers license (or identification card) to have on file for rental contract.
• Operator must have prior boat driving experience and understand basic operations of the watercraft and equipment rented.
• Operators must have knowledge of waterway navigational markers and proper navigation rules (passing/meeting/crossing).
• Operators must be aware and assume risk of the multiple hazards of Kabetogama Lake and Namakan Lake. These lakes are glacier created lakes with multiple rock hazards, many which are not marked. Renter/Operator will assume all risk of damage to rental equipment. Although navigation units are installed on our rentals, it is the boat operators responsibility to verify safe travel routes and prepare for potential hazards. If damage occurs at anytime during rental period, please let us know asap so we can assist and prepare for repair.
• Drivers agree to abide by all MN Boating Laws. Minnesota Boating Law booklets are available free upon request at check-in.
• A watercraft rental contract will need to be completed upon arrival. The person who signs the rental contract is defined as the primary renter and ultimately responsible for the rental unit, regardless of who is operating the watercraft.
• Only named drivers with ID on file with us and who are present for boat instructions will be allowed to operate the watercraft during the rental period.
• Minnesota State Law requires one life jacket/person onboard every watercraft. Life jackets are provided at no additional charge. (We have a limited
number of child size vests, so you may want to bring one that safely fits your child.) Children age 10 and under are required to wear life jackets while underway.
• Due to rental liability we do not allow anything to be towed behind our rental boats (including: tubes, waterskis, canoes or any type of watercraft) and we don’t allow portaging into any other lakes.
• We do not allow smoking aboard the watercraft due to seat/flooring damage and proximity to fuel.
DAY OF RENTAL:
We have parking here onsite for one-vehicle/rental contract. We ask that you leave a key with us here at the front desk so you don’t lose them on the lake and in case we need to move it (if you are uncomfortable leaving your keys or those who are camping in the park: additional daily/overnight parking is also available at Woodenfrog Public boat launch, right across the bay from us, just down the road. Sometimes loading/unloading is easier at that boat launch if you have a lot of gear and people. Drop your driver off here to check in and get boat instruction. You can purchase firewood, ice, bait, fuel and more here at our resort store. Let us know ahead and we can get it to the dock for you.
At check-in we will review and sign the rental contract. We will collect the remaining balance due for the full contract agreement amount including tax. We will require an ID card for each driver listed on contract and one major credit card to preauthorize for $500 damage hold. If there are no damages incurred during your rental period, the pre-authorization hold will be released and you will not be charged.
All listed drivers must be present for rental equipment instructions on the dock. All drivers should carefully inspect the watercraft, prop and motor prior to leaving the dock area. The primary renter will assume all responsibility for any damages incurred during use.
***First time renters with us: in addition to the gps units on our watercraft we do require you to have a navigational paper lake map. An automatic charge of $15 will be added to your contract to purchase a Lake Kabetogama map. Those venturing from Kabetogama into Namakan will charged for a 2-map pack ($25). If you already have a map that shows rock hazards and navigation routes the charge will be removed from your final invoice. NOTE: Maps on cellphones are not approved as a substitute to paper map.
Watercrafts are inspected and prepared with a full tank of gas at the beginning of the rental. Upon return, we will help dock the boat and top off the fuel. Fuel costs and incidentals will be collected at the end of rental after final fuel fill and inspection.
