2020
The year of the Covid-19 Crisis. We were unsure if we were going to be able to open at all, no one knew what to expect out of the season. Early on we allowed guests to roll their reservations to 2021, if they felt unsure to travel this season or to cancel completely with no penalty as job statuses and vacation plans were in the balance. When we were finally given the orders that resorts would be allowed to open on time, we scrambled to get ready and put protocols in place to follow mandates. Our cleaning and prepping methods were always above standards in our cabin care, so that was easy. We added some extra space at the dock for distancing and required facemasks in the store. And then the season finally kicked off…we filled the few cancellations/rollovers rather quickly as visitors were all looking to get away to the wild, for some open air distancing, that only Up North Minnesota can provide. The campgrounds were packed, every resort was filled, the island campsites were buzzing, there was watercraft everywhere…the park was alive. We were all in this together.
The resort had some new upgrades. A new patio door in our Islandview Cabin with the thanks of a wonderful guest and family members for installing. Another cabin bathroom was refreshed, leaving only two. We moved one of the docks in the harbor to create a better flow to our fueling area, which really opened up our little beach area for more play and easier watertoy launching. A new bait tank was built and “The Bait Shop” started getting it’s makeover to be revealed sometime in 2021. Things are really happening around here.
We are so grateful to our guests who came to visit, those who filled in vacancies and those who chose to stay safe and visit us next year. Our 2021 calendar looks outstanding! See you all next season!
2019
This season went by in a blur….we stayed full all summer, had great guests and many new explorers to our waters…and the fishing was great!
The resort saw a few updates, a couple cabin bathrooms received much needed facelifts, ac and heat was updated in a few units, and a new permanent sun/rain canopy structure was added to our fishing pier.
The 2020 calendar is fairly full already; we are thrilled at Grandview’s loyal guest following! See everyone next season! -Sheyna & Mark
2018
This has been an incredible season here at Grandview of Lake Kabetogama. So many return guests had us looking forward to check in day! We also had a fairly full availability calendar this season; we were thrilled to introduce new people to the beauty of Kabetogama and Voyageurs National Park, and look forward to the return of our new friends. Once again Patrick and Rachel Laurich, our son and daughter-in-law, traveled north for the summer to help out…this truly is a family run resort! The fishing was pretty good this year as we have seen guests bring in some great catches. This year also included a new fishing boat, another pontoon, updated docks, new yard games, and some cabin touch ups. We have a lot of plans and are working as hard as we can to keep things fresh. Hope to see you all next year! – Sheyna & Mark
2017
Our first season has really been great! We met so many great people who love the lake! Meeting all the loyal guests and making new friends was our favorite part of this first season and you can’t beat the “views.” We really couldn’t have done it without Patrick and Rachel Laurich, our son and daughter-in-law who joined us for this first year. We had an epic kick-off to resort life and look forward to next season’s adventures! -Sheyna & Mark
New owners, Mark & Sheyna Laurich, took over this historic resort late Fall of 2016.
